9^th Annual Summit on Rare Diseases and Orphan Drugs July 08-09, 2024 Paris, France

Win is a Junior Doctor at Southend University Hospital (SUH) currently working as a Foundation year 2 doctors within AMU. Aside from her core role, Win is actively involved in the education of her fellow medical students, providing tutoring and mentorship to those around her. To date, she has involved in 2 QIPs including: (1) an audit of CFS adoption and its role in elderly patient care; and (2) Introduction of CAP care bundle sticker by improving usability and adoption of the CURB 65 score for patients with Community Acquired Pneumonia. Before joining SUH, Win worked both as a medical officer at Sakura Private General Hospital, and as a Civil Medical Officer in the Ministry of Health and Sports back in her homeland Myanmar. It was in Myanmar that she found her passion for medicine, after completing her M.B.B.S at the University of Medicine, Mandalay; and later undertaking a foundation year 1 program at a General Hospital operating 1000 beds for patients.

Marjorie Forgie Jaffet at present working as a doctor at NHS and she is the Master in International Health and she is the founder and director at Sparkles Kids Parties and Day Spa. Marjorie Forgie Jaffet had completed his masters in KIT Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam during the year 2017- 2018 and she had completed her bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery degree in university of Zimbabwe.

Nigel Nicholls is working as a General Manager for UK/Nordics & Baltics. He completed his MBA in the University of Bath in the year 2003-2005 and He completed his MSc in the University of Surrey and BSc in the University of Essex. He worked as an area director in Bio Marin and product affairs manager in orphan Europe.

Orphan Drugs

Rebecca Karimu Mtambo Holds Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health. She has also University Certificate in Global Health by university of Washington and Certificate in Strengthening Community Health Worker Programs by Harvard University. Rebecca is the National Drug resistance Tuberculosis mentor, trainer and national supervisor. She is the TB/HIV supervisor, Infection Prevention and Control Trainer of Trainer and the supervisor. Rebecca Karimu had worked in the busy DRTB referral centre in Malawi called Bwaila Hospital from 2015 to 2020. She is the Zonal Tuberculosis supervisor at the Quality Management Central West Zone comprising of four districts. She has attended over 12 national and 5 International conferences. One of her abstract titled “Adverse Effects of Linezolid among MultiDrug Resistance TB Patients in Malawi’ was published in international Journal of Clinical and Respiratory Diseases and Care: Open Access (HILARIS). Rebecca Karimu is the Public health activist and Influencer who specializes public health issues through her Public face book page, Interviews, supervisions, mentorships and dialogues.

Tuberculosis

Robert Mitchell-Thain is the CEO of PBC Foundation, UK and He is highly motivated patient advocate and service provider: in terms of support, counselling and coaching; presenting self-management modules; an advocate who constantly strives to improve the bigger picture. He worked as the director of pediatric and rare liver diseases and at present he is the chairperson of pediatric and rare liver diseases council. He is an also a co-author, collaborator on behalf of patients-mainly liver.
